On a cold , wet and wintery night in the second city of the Uk, XOVA took to the stage after 2 support acts for a long over due performance of the complete festival set they have been performing all over Europe this year with a few new tracks thrown in as well.
The Hard hitting UR TO BLAME started the 75 minute long set with its lyrical stance against everything the goverment in the Uk have been lying to us over the past decade, and then straight into R GENERATION the new ITunes single about the soldiers who are loosing their lives in Afghanistan and Iraq, a great hypnotic reggae track that twists in a bit of SEAL as well, just to show there diversity they head of straight into a hard hitting track about single mothers called 14TH FLOOR that is a hit if ever there was, it sounds familiar on first hearing like most top tunes do as well as ALL THIS TIME which someone commented to me at the bar that it ‘could have come straight out of the USA top 40′, and sure it could have.

Other standout tracks of the night included the fantastic and commercial song 9 LIVES, which preceeded a heavy reggae sound section of NEW REVOLUTION and sing along GET UP GET UP and importantly KNIFE CRIME CITY which is at last a postive stance about the youth gang culture in the UK today, again this track has a twist to it that everyone loves, The Latin Groove of TAKE ME AWAY had everyone jumping and shouting for more as it drew a close to the inital set. The encore was just one simple song, but oh what a song SERENITY was just pure Class, so simple and not a dry eye in the house and that included grown men, here a shout went out for the Legend Rob Cimarosti of the G-Corp producers and Over Proof sound system who came on stage to solo his melodian, haunting yet so fitting. the perfect end to the night.

A sign of how well the band perfromed was that other muso’s in the crowd who normally come to gloat even stood to a man to applaud the magnificant show they had just witnessed, yes it was an intimate venue but definately a festival show….watch the headlinxova12es, XOVA are coming
